Org. Setting and Reporting

This position is located within the Translation and Interpretation Unit in Office of the Chief of Staff of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya. The position is based in Tripoli Libya Tripoli is classified as a Hardship E duty station and a non family duty station . The incumbent will be under the overall supervision of the Chief of Staff.

UNSMIL's mandate as renewed in SC resolution 2434 of 13 September 2018 includes as an immediate priority support to the Libyan political process as well as the undertaking of a support to key Libyan institutions b support for the provision of essential services and delivery of humanitarian assistance c human rights monitoring and reporting d support for securing uncontrolled arms and related materiel and countering their proliferation and e coordination of international assistance and provision of advice and assistance to GNA led efforts to stabilize post conflict zones.

Responsibilities

Within delegated authorities the Translator will be responsible for the following duties

Oversee day to day activities of the unit < li>
Leads reviews and evaluates all jobs submitted by relevant organizational units and clients for pre translation referencing determining relative complexity and priority < li>
Takes the lead in making reference assignments to individual staff taking into consideration productivity precision skill experience deadlines and availability of staff < li>
Provides guidance to staff as required identifying and indicating possible sources and locations for supportive material requested revises documents as required.< li>
Plans and oversees reference scheduling to ensure compliance with established deadlines.< li>
Alerts his her Supervisor of the need for the re allocation of the staffing resources to ensure that referencing priorities and responsibilities are met < li>
Accompanies his her Supervisor at weekly documentation meetings to evaluate status regarding work programming or policy matters to adjust job< li>< ul> priorities
- Works with his her Supervisor in order to develop work strategies prepares budget submissions and performance reports < li>
- Contributes to the definition of individual goals and the yearly performance evaluation for Translators and Language Assistant’s e PAS in consultation with senior staff.< li>
- Performs other duties as required.

  Education
  
  Advanced university degree Master’s degree or equivalent . A first level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying work experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree Candidates for this position must have passed the United Nations Competitive Examination for Interpreters Translators .
  
  Work Experience
  
  At least seven years of professional translation and interpreting experience in international organizations is required. Relevant language experience within the UN System is desirable. Experience supervising a small group of Translators and Interpreters is desirable. Relevant work experience in the African or Middle Eastern regions is desirable. Relevant work experience working in a United Nations common system field operation inclusive of peacekeeping political missions and UN agencies funds and programmes or similar international organization or non governmental organization in conflict post conflict zones is desirable.
  
  Languages
  
  A perfect command of Arabic which must be the candidate's main language. Fluency in English is required.
  
  Arabic Translators must also have an excellent knowledge of at least two other official languages as tested by the relevant United Nations Competitive examination.
  
  The requirement of a third language and or the relevant United Nations Competitive examination may be waived in the case of candidates who possess relevant substantive expertise required by the language unit concerned.
  
  Assessment
  
  Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise and a competency based interview
  
  Special Notice
  
  Staff members are subject to the authority of the Secretary General and to assignment by him or her. In this context all staff are expected to move periodically to new functions in their careers in accordance with established rules and procedures.

Candidates who have committed crimes other than minor traffic offences may not be considered for employment.

Write accurate professional reports acting as single point of contact between Customers and GE Oil Gas Headquarter concerning technical issues and interfacing with all involved functions< li>

Ensure all in field activities are carried out safely complying with company environmental Health Safety EHS guidelines and procedures.< li>< ul> As a specialist in control field service engineering You will
- Supervise the installation calibration and set up of instruments< li>
- Supervise cable laying meggering and connection< li>
- Lead and execute loop check and commissioning phase performing the functional tests.< li>
- Lead and execute unit start up and performance tests< li>< ul> The candidate will be also responsible to keep reliability of Customers assets and to support on proactive way all GE O G customers.
  Qualifications Requirements < h2>Engineering Degree or equivalent business experience
  - Minimum 3 to 10 years of related working experience in Oil Gas industry within maintenance and installation field activities< li>
  - Strong knowledge on rotating equipment installation maintenance. The Candidate should posses knowledge working on O G Product Equipment < li>
  - HDGT Gas Turbines Fr 52d Fr 6 as a minimum Requirement < li>
  - Centrifugal Compressors BCL and MCL Types of Machines< li>
  - Reciprocating Compressors H Series Machines < li>
  - PGT 25 Machines and their auxiliaries lube oil system fuel gas system seal gas system steam system etc < li>
  - Expertise in troubleshooting of Speedtronic Mark VI for GE DLN1 FR5 gas turbines in oil gas industry< li>
  - Troubleshooting capability and knowledge of associated systems namely BN 3500 BN System 1 Anti Surge Controller CCC ESD PLC Triconix F G HIMA PLC.< li>
  - Experienced in start up and operation of DLE on PGT Machines< li>
  - Ability to understand and implement mechanical drawings section dwg construction dwg P ID alignment specification flushing blowing procedure piping specification wiring diagram etc < li>
  - Excellent English fluency both spoken and written< li>
  - Availability to frequent travel worldwide on and off shore. Long Duration assignment< li>
